WELCOME!

That you find yourself at this site means you have either run aground  web-surfing or you’re someone interested in choral music.  If the latter, you may already know some of my work.  I have pieces published (or forthcoming) with Lawson-Gould (now Alfred Publishing), Augsburg Fortress, Santa Barbara Music Publishing, Kjos Music, Emerson Music, and Transcontinental Music Publishing.

But if your business is finding interesting repertoire, recognize that what the publishers offer is merely the tip of an iceberg.  Their industry is almost entirely market-driven.  My name might be Bach, but if I submit a new anthem for the Feast of St. Gertrude The Elder, and the publisher already has Hopson’s tribute to St. Gert in that year’s catalog, all I’m going to get for my efforts is a “Dear Johann” letter.  Rarely can a publisher afford to assess a piece simply on its own merits.  Many of a composer’s creations—and often the freshest and most original--never make it to an editor’s desk.

The purpose of this website is to make available some of my other work.  As Music Director at La Mesa Presbyterian Church and the founder and director of a 13-voice men’s ensemble called de Profundis, I have naturally written most often for SATB choir or TTBB men’s voices.  While I have included my commercially available titles--along with links and information to order--I hope you will take the time to look at the material that I am publishing myself.  You will find both all-original material, as well as arrangements, often of world music.

To view the catalogs, simply click on the voicing that interests you.  The list that comes up is alphabetical by title, provides a short description of the piece, the cost to purchase it (usually $1.50 per copy), a link to view the score, and in some cases a minute or so of a performance (most of them live) in MP3 format.  You will not be able to print the PDF files of the scores.  If you do find something you would like to perform with your choir, it’s a snap to order directly from me.  And of course you are always welcome to contact me for more information on a piece.

HAPPY BROWSING!
